WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB?

I enjoy the relationships that I can build with patients as we work together to improve their skin. I also like that we are able to see and feel the conditions that we treat.

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?

As I was growing up and going through school, my father would always tell me, “You can have fun now and have to work really hard the rest of your life. Or you can work hard now and be able to have a fun job that you love for the rest of your life.”

WHAT FRAMED PHOTO DO YOU HAVE ON YOUR DESK?

A picture of my family

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME A DERMATOLOGIST?

Dermatology provides the opportunity to perform both medical and procedural treatments, which makes my clinic days varied, interesting and fun! I enjoy being able to see and touch the condition that I am treating, which makes it clear when a treatment has worked or not.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SECOND OCCUPATION, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Fishing guide (especially a fly fishing guide in the mountains out west). Some people say that just being outdoors and hearing the rushing water is worth the experience, even when they don’t catch any fish. I mostly agree with that statement, but I also really like catching fish!

I START EACH DAY...?

With a good cup of coffee

SKIN CARE PRODUCT NO ONE SHOULD BE WITHOUT?

A daily sunscreen (at least to the face, but preferably on all sun-exposed skin!)
