Arm lift recovery
When it comes to recovering from arm reduction surgery, you can generally expect recovery to take around six weeks. During these six weeks, you will likely be advised to refrain from strenuous physical activity, which will allow for proper healing. During the first several weeks of your recovery, you may also experience some pain, bruising, and swelling; for this reason, optimal results are usually seen after a month.
Arm lift procedure steps
If you’re thinking about having an arm lift done through our San Antonio office, it’s certainly helpful to know what to expect. To begin the arm fat removal process, patients are placed under anesthesia and incisions are made along the back of the arm — usually starting near the armpit, but the location can vary. From there, excess fat is removed from the underside of each arm through a combination of liposuction and excision, and the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures.
Arm lift risks and safety information
With any surgery that involves removing fat from the body, such as arm fat surgery, there are always going to be some inherent risks involved that your surgeon will make sure you’re aware of up front. Some potential risks may include:
- brachioplasty scars
- separation of incision
- pain and swelling
- fluid accumulation
