What happens during a fat transfer procedure?
When you get fat injections, you’re first placed under anesthesia. Then, a cannula is used to harvest excess fat from an area of the body. A special solution is used to gently cleanse the fat before the healthy fat cells are separated from dead ones. Then, using a syringe, the healthy fat cells are injected into the target area(s). This can include fat transfer from stomach to buttocks, fat transfer to the breast, or even facial injections.
What are the risks involved with fat grafting?
With a butt lift or fat injections in the buttocks, some inherent risks will include:
- failure of the new fat cells to survive
What happens during a consultation?
If you’re thinking about having liposuction and fat transfer to any area of the body, we recommend that you begin with a consultation in our San Antonio office. This way, you can meet with our doctor and he can determine whether you’re a viable candidate for the procedure. This can also help you get a better idea as to the expected results.
How can I prepare for fat grafting?
The best thing you can do before a fat grafting procedure in our San Antonio office is to quit smoking, if you’re currently a smoker. This will help increase oxygen flow to the fat cells, leading to a better chance of success with your procedure.
What type of recovery can I expect?
Following a fat transfer procedure, you should expect to need some recovery time. For lip augmentations, the recovery time is minimal and any swelling should reside within a couple of days. With breast and buttocks fat injections, however, you may experience swelling and soreness for one to two weeks.
What questions should I ask my surgeon?
